<text>A film about Prince Claus Fund Laureate Etcetera shown during the 2015 Prince Claus Awards at the Royal Palace Amsterdam. (Produced by Brenninkmeijer & Isaacs)

On 2 December 2015, Etcetera received the Prince Claus Award from Honorary Chairman of the Prince Claus Fund HRH Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands. www.princeclausfund.org

From the 2015 Prince Claus Awards Committee Report:
Etcetera (1997, Buenos Aires) is a provocative, public-art collective that responds to and creates awareness of political and social problems. Bold, direct and transgressive, their accessible, playful yet serious interventions are characterised by theatrical display, parody, absurdity, confusion and surprise. Generating active participation, they blur the boundaries between art and life.

Co-founded by Loreto Garín Guzmán (1977, Valparaíso) and Federico Zukerfeld (1979, Buenos Aires) together with other artists and activists, Etcetera takes art to the streets at specific sites and political events and also presents problematic social and political issues in official art institutions.

Etcetera staged stunning theatrical pieces, such as masked people playing out torture scenes with huge dummies, to protest against the impunity of Argentina’s military dictatorship in the 1990s and the 2001 crisis. In 2005 they founded the International Errorist Movement – with the manifesto declaration ‘We are all errorists’ – to protest George W. Bush attending the Summit of the Americas.

Actions included the landing of an errorist army carrying toy guns, triggering a major police deployment, and the invasion of Buenos Aires streets by masked errorists driving commando trucks and armed with cardboard machine guns emitting the word ‘Bang’, satirically reproducing the constructed enemy in the war on terror and denouncing its absurdity. Their intervention on religion’s relation to global financial crises, Errar de Dios (Erring from God), is a theatrical installation featuring characters like Angela Merkel, God, Monsanto, St Paul and Goldman Sachs among others, and includes a ‘Petition to Pope Francis for the final abolition of hell’. Etcetera is awarded for developing participatory art practices and public interventions in Argentina and internationally; for their creative originality; for their refusal to allow the normalisation of injustice; for insisting on relating history to the present moment and the local to international struggles; and for their profound, responsible social engagement and mobilisation of communities in Argentina and beyond.</text>

"Another reality is possible"
It was born as a response to the slogan "another world is possible" of the World Social Forum. With the participation of hundreds of people and the support of an aluminium factory recovered and administrated by its workers (IMPA), which donated over one hundred kilogrammes of metal to build up the customs, armours and a big "tank-pot", from which a sling of a size of a tree came out.
Etcétera... organized a guerrilla, an army formed by Insanes, Hungry people, Dreamers, Revolutioners, Internationalists, all people that stand for Liberation
The fighters carried guns such as forks, spoons, and huge knives. On their ways they "attacked" shops of multinational corporations (McDonalds, Shell, Esso, and so on) together with government organisms, shoutting "A comer" (To eat!)</text>

<text>"International Errorists" were founded, in November 2005 in the city of Buenos Aires, composed by members from Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Venezuela, Mexico, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, Rumania, Croatia, United States and Japan; during the campaign in order to repudiate the presence of George W. Bush and the reunion of all presidents of America ("Summit of the Americas") in the city of Mar del Plata -- Argentina

International Errorists participated in the counter-summit called "Summit of the People" where an international encounter of social organizations, farmer movements, left-wing parties, NGO's and independent media organizations, trade unions and student organizations. Different demonstrations and cultural acts were realized.

The context was the one of a city surrounded by police and military. The center of the city was closed, guarded by three security cords. Also Marines of the USA could be seen supervising the streets and beaches. There the first declaration which introduce today/now this manifest "WE ARE ALL ERRORISTS", together with series of errorist actions which were realized during the street protests and demonstrations.
Errorism emerged by error: In times of censorship we see ourselves complied to force language, bring metaphors to their maximum point, speaking without calling. As using the word (T)erroism or "(T)errorist" for the symbolical weight and the "danger" that this represents, we escaped by onto a game of words. Like this Errorism emerged, by error. While writing the text somebody forgot to tap a key.

Today, errorism and its actions receive wide help form the international community, disspreading their practices and their philosophy, being satisfied with new autonomous cells of International Errorists which expand all over the world.
We have to return the like the System a bit of ist own venom. ERROR and MORE ERROR!!
Unite in the files of International Errorists!

                <text>Internacional Errorista

...........................................
Escrache to Raúl Sánchez Ruiz
The performance worked as a lure to distract the police guard in front of the house.
A character doing militar physician Sanchez Ruiz handed over a baby, stolen from a prisioner of the concentration camps, to an Army General. At a certain moment, taking advantage of the confusion brought among the policemen, painting bombs were thrown to point out the front of the criminal´s house.

Escrache a Leopoldo Fortunato Galtieri
In this case Etcétera... performed "A football match" in which the teams confronting were "Argentina against Argentina", symbolizing the Falklands or Malvinas War and the cover of thousands of deaths and disappearences that had taken place during the World Cup of 1978. The Escrache was carried out the same day of the Argentina-England football match, for the World Cup of 1998.
The play ended with a penalty kick, shot by a member of H.I.J.O.S. The ball was full with red painting. In the goal (that was the security hurdle) stood the militar character trying to catch the ball. The yells of "Goal!!!!!" combined with cursing, as the painting bombs went through the air.</text>

The Goose to the Power:
A week before the presidential elections, a dramatic action took place during the March 24th march. Questioning the legitimacy of the candidates and the way elections worked, casting doubts on the ambiguity of representational symbols, as the signs and common places of the "bipartisant" politics.
In a carriage with the shape of a globe, we carried the leader: a goose. For the play, it was needed the participation of a live animal, "the next president of argentinian people", followed by a particular retinue: horrid security agents, frightening ministers, uncertain assistants, and a fierceful gang of supporters holding drums and T-shirts supporting the oviparous candidate.</text>

                <text>"EL MIERDAZO"

...........................................
EL MIERDAZO The Big Shit "
After the social uprising of December 20th 2001, there was a large growth in the protesting involvement and in the claims of the different social groups affected by the crisis (demostrations against banks organized by people who lost their savings; rutes blocking and demonstrations of Piqueteros; statal employees protested against majors´ houses, neighbourhood´s assambleys turned up and so on.)
The situation led demonstrators to find new and different ways of protesting.
The proposal of a new way of claiming called The Big Shit, consisted in inviting all the disgusted society to keep , take and throw their own shit or shit belonging to a friend, relative or pet, over the National Congress´ gates, at the same time the diputees debated the national budget for the whole year. Under the instruction: "It´s not going to be cancelled in case of rain or diarrhea" a set and a performance were put on; an actor disguised as a sheep, sitting on a toilet on a red carpet, shitted at the audience´s sight. Then, he was followed by other demonstrators who felt the necessity. Others chose to take off their clothes and stood naked in front of the government. The media coverage allowed the concept of the action to spread out around other parts of the country. For instance, in Mar del Plata, trucks full of shit were unloaded in front of the banks by the people who lost their savings.</text>

Welcome to the "welfare state of exception" an immobile object theater piece. This interactive installation is a permanent work in process. A pretext for another poetic infiltration in the communication and some politically incorrect way to discover together the stories hidden inside this doll, which is moving the puppets, as an imperceptible thread, so, we can believe that those movements are real. The scenery gives us the welcome or just say goodbye: Greetings from the Welfare state of exception!
